I don't need a groundhog to tell me that it's still winter. I keep waking up to new blankets of snow and my natural gas bills look like they are for two months instead of one. What's with that? I caulked, sealed the cracks underneath my doors and generally try to keep my thermostat down.
One thing I hadn't given much thought to this season is the lack of humidity in my house. The first giveaway that something wasn't quite right is major static-electricity.

Kuwait signs $893m gas production line contract with Daelim
Kuwait National Petroleum plans to sign a KD260m ($893m) contract with South Korea's Daelim Industrial to build a fourth gas production line at its Mina Al-Ahmadi refinery, Bloomberg has reported. "We already have three trains, this is the fourth gas train with an associated pipeline," KNPC spokesman, Mohammed al-Ajmi told the news service. The company is to spend KD410m on natural gas projects by the end of 2013 including a fourth gas pipeline costing KD260m with a capacity of 850 million cubic feet per day. [AMEInfo.com]
Jordan invites bids for power project
Jordan's National Electric Power Co (Nepco) has issued a request for qualification (RFQ) to developers to build an independent power project (IPP) on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis at the capital, Amman, Meed has reported. The project is set to comprise a power generating facility with a capacity of 200-250MW using either diesel engine technology or combustion turbines operating in simple cycle with an expected annual capacity factor of 40%.
